The following are the "oral report" subjects covered in today's lecture. Not all presenters were in attendance or forthcoming. Please note, these links are intended only as a starting point for you. I realize how hard it is to catch every word in class, and we frequently don't have the correct spelling in front of us; I've done my best to find them out for you so you can go and do your own homework. Don't rely simply on these links to give you full information (especially since most of them are just Wikipedia, which, while a great source, is not always accurate, unbiased, or comprehensive.)

worked on liquid fueled rockets (he was a rocket scientist)
joined Nazi party while working on his PhD
Developed the V2 - The rocket was the world's first long-range combat-ballistic missile.
Especially used on London, from '44
Development of his technology relied heavily on slave labor (Jewish exploitation)
came to America in '45 claimed to have been coerced into joining the Nazi's, became a citizen in '55
joined NASA
called the "Father of Modern Spaceflight"
worked on the Saturn V rocket which got America to the moon

Germans got their ideas for eugenic science from Americans (27 employed sterilization practices)
Americans admired the advancements of Germany in this field

1933 - Doctors & scientists were ready and willing to offer their expertise i
Germany - a "biocracy" a living body that had to be healed
Jews, Slavs, and Africans seen as inferior
Science, Law, and Politics worked against the Jews
Jewish doctors gradually barred from the medical system
all state institutions of public health
Basically what we have here is hundreds, thousands, millions of people in poverty.
And so we apply ruthless lifeboat ethics. The more people you throw off the lifeboat, the more space and comfort you have at the disposal of those left, and so you come up with a system of discriminating who to throw off the lifeboat and who to give the new space/resources to.
the involvement of doctors legitimized the implementation of racial theories
sterilization of the unfit was the first step on the road toward the Final Solution
hospitalization of undesirables was a major burden on the medical and social services
