ABOUT

About Me:
My name is Aaron. I'm a fourth year student at Southern Methodist University; I am an Anthropologist and I minor in Gender Studies and Human Rights. My current focus is on transgender issues (I have written a few thesis studies on local trans communities and work with a number of national political organizations, and occasionally work as a consultant and public speaker/educator in the area). I am also personally concerned with events in Southern Africa. Last of all, I am a dual national - I hold both British and American passports. I share these details partly because my posts and links should reflect these facts, but also because they will affect the way I treat certain issues when I make posts from a personal level.

Feel free to leave comments. I'm more than happy to engage in discussion, to answer questions where I can (especially if you have an issue with viewing/accessing the blog), and to hear feedback (does anyone tire of hearing "thank you"?) If you have additional notes of your own or links you've found PLEASE share, for EVERYONE's benefit!

For other guests:

Southern Methodist University is one of only 19 schools in the nation to offer any sort of Human Rights education program; starting in 2012 we will be the first to offer Human Rights as a major area of academic study.

Current minors are required to take "HIST 3301 Human Rights: America's Dilemma" as a foundational course; the requirements for this class are intense. This blog represents one student's journey through the gateway into a world where Human Beings are held accountable for the atrocities we commit against each other and ourselves. Together, let's leave behind that inadequate phrase: "I didn't know."
